The Senators will be without their Ironman Tuesday night.

Veteran defenceman Chris Phillips, who was on the ice Monday for the club’s 3 p.m. practice at the Bell Sensplex, won’t play against the Montreal Canadiens at Scotiabank Place. It will be the second game in the last five years he has missed, the other was due to the flu in 2007-08.

Coach Paul MacLean said Phillips suffered a minor injury in the club’s 2-1 OT loss to the Carolina Hurricanes Friday night and won’t be ready to play.

Defenceman Brian Lee will dress in Phillips’ place vs. the Habs.

“It’s day-to-day so we’re just being more cautionary than anything,” said MacLean Tuesday morning.

Phillips has played all 82 games the last two seasons. This will also push back the date of his 1,000th game.
