SHORT HILLS, N.J. - Alex Auld will get his first start in the Senators net in almost three weeks tonight when they visit the New Jersey Devils.

But a switch in goal is the only tweak -- the Senators won't be making any roster moves as they prepare for Thursday's game at the Prudential Center.

Coming off a 5-3 loss to the Washington Capitals at Scotiabank Place Wednesday, coach Paul MacLean will stick with the same roster. Auld will make his first start since Nov. 20.

"We had some discussion about it and we felt this was a game -- in a back-to-back and with the way the schedule is -- that this was a good chance to get (Auld) in," said MacLean Thursday morning at the club's hotel.

"We just want to see him come out, have a good effort and be himself. If he can stop one more than the other guy that would be good."

Defenceman Matt Carkner has rejoined the Senators after a stint in Binghamton. He will not suit up because he was in the Baby Sens lineup against Wilkes-Barre Wednesday.

Carkner will be available to play Saturday vs. Vancouver.

Asked if any thought was given to putting Nikita Filatov back into the lineup, MacLean replied: "No."
