OTTAWA - Jean-Gabriel Pageau is excited.
The 18-year-old Olympiques centre, who grew up in the area and was selected by Ottawa in June’s draft, is going to get a chance to make his pre-season debut with the Senators on Friday at Scotiabank Place against the Canadiens.
“I’m excited. That (will) be a great experience,” said Pageau. “That’s a team that I (watched) when I was growing up and I’m sure that would make the experience (even better).”
PRINCE BACK TO 67’S
The Senators sent LW Shane Prince back to the 67’s in time for the club’s season opener against the Belleville Bulls on Friday.
Prince suited up in Ottawa’s 2-1 win over Boston on Thursday.
“I was impressed with him,” said coach Paul MacLean. “He was one of the three best forwards at the rookie camp and I thought he played well (Thursday). He’s got poise with the puck and his skating ability was good.”
THIS ’N’ THAT
G Craig Anderson is scheduled to play the entire game against Montreal ... Prospect D David Rundblad told the Binghamton Press and Sun Bulletin he hasn’t decided if he’ll play for Ottawa’s AHL affiliate or return to Sweden if he doesn’t make the Senators ... The Montreal-Ottawa game will be shown on Rogers channel 456 (free to all customers). That’s because Rogers 22 will be carrying the 67’s opener.
