Senators call up 3 to face Flyers

The reinforcements have arrived.

Preparing for the final three games of the regular season, the Senators recalled defencemen Patrick Wiercioch and Andre Benoit along with forward Roman Wick to face the Philadelphia Flyers Tuesday.

All three will be in the lineup for the club’s second-last home game. Out of the lineup are winger Marek Svatos (concussion), blueliners Erik Karlsson (leg) and Sergei Gonchar (concussion).

Only the decision to recall Wick is a surprise, but he’ll likely be returned to Binghamton Wednesday. Colin Greening is expected to be recalled for the club’s final two games vs. Montreal and in Boston Saturday.

“Colin played four games in four nights. (Tuesday) would be 5-in-6. We want to give him one more day off,” said coach Cory Clouston. “There’s a good chance he’ll be here for the next two games.

“He’s played very well. We saw how important he is to our team the last little while. He’s run out of gas the last couple of days so we’re going to give him a day off.”

The Senators will start goaltender Craig Anderson. He made 29 stops in a 4-1 victory over the Flyers on Feb. 26th and is expected to play all three of the club’s final games this week.
