WInchester sorry he hit MacArthur
By BRUCE GARRIOCH, Ottawa Sun

Jesse Winchester isn’t sorry he apologized to Clarke MacArthur Saturday night.

After Winchester lost his balance, resulting in him recklessly swinging his stick, he wanted to make sure the Maple Leafs forward was OK.

“I deem it different than just hitting a guy and hurting him,” said Winchester. “I kind of lost my balance and swung my stick pretty badly. I caught him in the head and earlier this year I took a nasty stick to the face. I play physical. I felt in that instance I went outside what I felt was fair play. It was totally accidental. I just wanted him to know that it was not on purpose.”

Winchester said he was worried.

“Anytime it’s to the face — with the eyes and stuff — I didn’t see where I got him,” said Winchester. “I just wanted to make sure he was OK. It wasn’t like I hit him cleanly into the boards and he separated his shoulder.”
