Neil lucky eye injury isn't worse

Chris Neil considers himself lucky.

The Senators winger pointed to the corner of his eye and told reporters he's fortunate the damage from a Max Pacioretty high stick Friday wasn't worse than just a small scratch on his eyeball.

"My nose saved me," Neil said with a chuckle Sunday. "The doctors told me if it didn't catch my nose (it could have been worse)."

Initially, Neil said he couldn't see out of the eye, but was fine once he got into the training room and doctors got it settled down. He's still having a hard time with bright lights, but should be fine Tuesday.

"Your eye goes into a spasm. It's almost like a fog almost," said Neil, who doesn't wear a visor.

Would Patrick Roy make a good coach for the Colorado Avalanche?
