No Nabokov for Sens

The Senators woeful goaltending situation is not about to improve any time soon.

Any hopes they might have had in scooping former San Jose Sharks 'tender Evgeny Nabokov were dismissed when he was claimed off waivers by the New York Islanders.

Nabokov, who had been signed by Detroit, had to clear waivers before he could join the Red Wings.

Based on standings, the Isles had third pick. The Senators were next in line.

Ottawa, which doesn't play again until Tuesday's home game against Buffalo, made two roster moves Saturday. Returned to Binghamton were winger Bobby Butler and goalie Mike Brodeur.

Whether they will be back for the Sabres game is unknown. With only Brian Elliott healthy, the Senators will have to bring up a goalie. More likely, it will be 19-year-old Robin Lehner, as Brodeur struggled in his start Friday against the Habs.
