Bobby Butler is going to get a good shot Tuesday night at Scotiabank Place.
The Senators recalled the Senators winger to replace the injured Alexei Kovalev and Butler is going to get a proper opportunity by playing along side Mike Fisher and Nick Foligno against the Anaheim Ducks.
“I’ve just got to take it one day at a time. I need to work hard, use the chance and, hopefully, be ready,” said Butler following the morning skate.
Coach Cory Clouston said this is a good chance for Butler. This is the second time Butler has been recalled. this season. He was brought up on Dec. 5 and stayed for four games.
“It’s one thing scoring at that level. It’s another to translate it up here,” said Clouston. “Bobby had the chances (the last time). He had the opportunities. Now, we just need him to put those in for us.”
There will be another change.
Defenceman Matt Carkner is expected to go in the lineup. Clouston suggested there may be a forward made a healthy scratch and Peter Regin is doing extra skating at the building.
Since there isn’t much choice, goaltender Brian Elliott, who has lost eight straight, will make the start.
“We’ve got to give him support,” said Clouston. “It’s a tough situation when night in and night out, you let in more than one goal and the chances are you’re not going to win the game.”
