Matthew Spezza gives Sens net gains

If practice jerseys had names on the back, a visitor to Scotiabank Place Monday would have noticed a Spezza on the ice.

It was Matthew Spezza, not his older, injured brother Jason.

With Pascal Leclaire injured, Robin Lehner in Binghamton and Mike Brodeur on his way to Boston to join the Senators, Matthew Spezza once again helped Brian Elliott with the goaltending chores at the NHL team’s practice.

The 24-year-old Spezza, whose brief pro career ended in 2008-09 with the IHL’s Flint Generals, has provided Senators shooters with a challenge a number of times in the past.

Asked if Spezza is getting any better, coach Cory Clouston cracked a smile.

“Better shape,” said Clouston.

Have you considered giving him a one-game contract?

“Probably not,” Clouston joked. “Although that has been brought up by him a couple of times.”

Would Seattle be a good city for the NHL to relocate to?
Yes, it'd be a great market.
  Maybe, who knows.
No, they should go to Quebec instead.
