A master of the Bingo Shuffle, Mike Brodeur should be able to steer clear of Interstate 81 for a while.

His job will be with Ottawa until next week, at least.

Senators coach Cory Clouston said Tuesday that the lower-body injury goalie Pascal Leclaire is dealing with has progressed, but not near to the point that he’s ready to return to the lineup. That means Brodeur, who has been back and forth between Ottawa and Binghamton on a regular basis since Leclaire’s latest limp out Dec. 17, will serve as Brian Elliott’s backup for games against Carolina, Columbus and Toronto — unless Clouston decides to give him a start or Elliott suffers a mid-game collapse.

“We’ve got a five-day break after the Toronto game and it looks like we’re going to focus more on that,” Clouston said of Leclaire’s timetable for a return. “We hope to get him on the ice in the next day or two.”
