The Senators have recalled Zack Smith from their Binghamton farm team to fill the hole Jason Spezza's injury leaves on their roster.
There was some thought to calling up former 67's star Corey Locke - who is second in AHL scoring - but for now, they'll elevate Peter Regin to a top line spot instead.
Regin will centre Milan Michalek and Alex Kovalev when the Senators host the Carolina Hurricanes Wednesday night.
Smith, who has seven goals, 12 points and 32 PIMs in 22 games for Bingo this season, will play on the fourth line with Jesse Winchester and Ryan Shannon.
"I'm excited to be back up," said Smith, who had two goals, 14 PIMs and a minus-4 rating in 10 games with the Senators earlier this season. "It's a good chance for me to prove myself again."
Coach Cory Clouston said goalie Pascal Leclaire will not suit up for the next two or three games while he continues to recover from a lower body injury.
Mike Brodeur will be recalled from Binghamton once again, and he is expected to be Brian Elliott's backup against Carolina.
