Ryan Shannon is being rewarded with more ice time.

Senators coach Cory Clouston changed the club's lines Wednesday, which means Shannon will likely get a promotion and play with Jason Spezza and Milan Michalek.

Alexei Kovalev is going to skate on the fourth line again, with Jesse Winchester and Peter Regin. That's the way the club expects to start against the Nashville Predators Thursday in the final game before the two-day Christmas break.

"He's working hard. He has been very good on the forecheck. His ice hasn't been a lot and he's still managed to produce offensively," said Senators coach Cory Clouston. "He deserves an opportunity to play more minutes and he'll get that (against the Predators).

The Senators won't have goalie Pascal Leclaire. He is still hampered by a lower body injury and wasn't on the ice. The plan is for him to skate for the first time Friday.

That would be exactly a week after he pulled out of a start after the warmup in Denver. Leclaire could suit up against the Penguins Sunday at home.
