There were no surprises Tuesday during the Ottawa Senators' pre-game skate at Scotiabank Place.

Brian Elliott will make his 11th straight start as the team puts its three-game win streak on the line against the Atlanta Thrashers.

Winger Milan Michalek will return from a knee injury. Centre Mike Fisher didn’t skate, but will play.

Defenceman Filip Kuba isn’t ready to come back from a broken leg he suffered on the first day of training camp.

“We’re just going to take it day-by-day with Filip. When he tells us he’s ready, he’s ready,” said Senators coach Cory Clouston.

The Thrashers are of the NHL’s most improved teams. They’ve done it with balanced scoring, they’ve added elements from the Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks - including blueliner Dustin Byfuglien - and are rising in the standings.

“They’ve had a tough go as a franchise for a while. They’ve only been to the playoffs once,” said captain Daniel Alfredsson. “Those guys (from Chicago) would bring a good attitude. They’ve got a new coach (Craig Ramsay) and they can start fresh.

“They’ve done a good job so far. We’ll see how they can maintain that throughout the year.”

Clouston said the Thrashers will offer a good test.

“We know they’ve got a good, young team and we feel confident it’s going to be a good competition,” said Clouston. “If we play are game, we can create offence. That’s for sure.”
