It didn’t take long for Pascal Leclaire to get injured ... again.

With the confidence of a fourth straight start bestowed upon Leclaire by coach Cory Clouston, the often-injured goalie left the game only 2:06 into the first period against the Carolina Hurricanes with what appeared to be a right leg injury.

First, Leclaire got a minor push in the crease from Carolina’s Jeff Skinner. Then, he headed for the exits and limped down the hallway at 2:06 after getting hit in the crease by the Hurricanes’ Tom Kostopolous.

The Senators said Leclaire, who missed 24 games last season with a fractured cheekbone and a concussion, has a lower-body injury and will not return. He made three saves in his short stay.

Backup Brian Elliott took over and made six saves in the first as the Senators took a 1-0 lead.
