A-Train Hit OK

The Flyers were screaming for Ottawa D Anton Volchenkov to get suspended for his hit on Simon Gagne during Tuesday's 2-0 win at Scotiabank Place. But NHL VP Colin Campbell looked at the tape and decided there didn't need to be any supplementary discipline. The referees didn't call a penalty on the play, but the league didn't consider Volchenkov's hit over the top.

This 'N' That

Ottawa captain Daniel Alfredsson and D Chris Phillips were both given "maintenance" days Thursday, but will suit up Friday night against the Sabres ... Trailing Buffalo by seven points for the Northeast Division lead, Ottawa can close the gap with a win. "We've got two matches left against them, and we've played well against them. Obviously, we want to finish as high as possible," said Senators C Mike Fisher.

Injuries

SABRES: LW Raffi Torres (undisclosed), day-to-day.

SENATORS: RW Alex Kovalev (lower body), out; D Filip Kuba (lower body), out; LW Milan Michalek (knee), out.
