The Senators are calling on reinforcements.

With winger Milan Michalek out with what's being described as an "upper body" injury, the Senators have called on Binghamton forwards Zack Smith and Martin St. Pierre to suit up Saturday night against the Florida Panthers at Scotiabank Place.

Neither player is going to make an impact, but the Senators need to do something with Michalek out indefinitely. Coupled with injuries to centre Jason Spezza (knee) and captain Daniel Alfredsson (shoulder) out of the lineup, the club has lost its top line.

“That was our first line not too long ago,” said coach Cory Clouston.

“We need other guys to step it up. We have to simplify our game even more. There is a lot of positive foundation being laid. If we stick with our systems and captalize on our chances, we’ll be okay.”

The decision to bring up two forwards means somebody -- possibly Shean Donovan -- will be a healthy scratch.

“Zack hasn’t produced as much offensively (in Binghamton) as maybe we would have liked,” said Clouston.

“He’s still got that physical presence and is strong on the puck. St. Pierre is smaller and is offensive. Both those guys bring something a little bit different.”
