SAN JOSE -- The Senators salvaged a point to open their longest road trip of the season, but they werenít satisfied with their performance in the 4-3 shootout loss against the Bruins Saturday.

The Senators know they've got to be better Tuesday against the high-flying Sharks (10:30 p.m., Sportsnet).

The Senators made the trek across the coast yesterday morning after surrendering three power-play goals in Boston.

In San Jose, they will open up a busy month of December that includes 17 games.

"We have to be smarter (with the penalties)," said captain Daniel Alfredsson.

"We didn't play that well (in Boston) and we got caught in situations where you're chasing from behind and they came at us pretty good.

"We gave them more time than we usually do. Our penalty kill should be better and we gave them two easy goals. We didn't give up. We got a little bit lucky, but thatís the way it goes. It's nice to get a point, but we know we can play better."
