Senators defenceman Anton Volchenkov, who was on the ice for practice at Scotiabank Place yesterday before the club hit the road, had hoped to play tonight, but can't.

He's frustrated with his recovery from a dislocated right elbow (circled), but doesn't want to rush back into the lineup, either.

"I'm just not ready. The elbow's) just not really strong enough," said Volchenkov, who will miss his 14th game already this season.

"I might be able to play in San Jose (Tuesday), but we'll have to see. This is a different injury and it's pretty tough. Not playing in four weeks isn't good. I'm glad I didn't break my elbow, but still it's tough."
