Day of rest for Alfredsson
'He'll be fine' coach says, but A-Train's recovery taking longer than expected

The captain was given a day of rest.

Daniel Alfredsson wasn't on the ice this morning at Scotiabank Place, but he'll be in the lineup tomorrow against the Edmonton Oilers as the Senators close out their four-game home stand.

"Just a maintenance day. He'll be fine," said coach Cory Clouston of Alfredsson's absence.

A player not progressing as well as the club would like is defenceman Anton Volchenkov. He was back on the ice this morning before the team skated, but his elbow injury still isn't allowing him to shoot the puck. He won't play against the Oilers and likely won't be back before Saturday.

"The good news is he's skating," said Clouston.

Coming off a 3-2 loss to the New Jersey Devils Saturday, the Senators need to get back on track. Expect to see goalie Pascal Leclaire make the start against the Oilers.
