Matt Carkner is going to be able to make himself at home with the Senators.

GM Bryan Murray announced today he has signed the Winchester native to a two-year contract extension worth $1.4 million.

"I'm thrilled. This has been a great day," said Carkner.

The 28-year-old Carkner has brought an element of toughness the club has needed and has been solid defensively.

"It's important. He has stepped up and he has shown he can play in the league," said Murray.
