Paul Kelly got what he deserved, Daniel Alfredsson says.
The Senators captain, a former VP of the NHLPA’s executive committee, said yesterday he doesn’t disagree with the decision by the union leadership to oust Kelly last Sunday in Chicago.
“Hearing the comments and reading on our website, I’ve got a clearer picture of everything and I’ve got confidence in the executive committee that they’re doing the right thing for us,” said Alfredsson.
“Hopefully, this is something we’ll look back and be happy about the decision.
“There’s been a lot of things going on and you can’t just let things go by either. The easy thing would have been to keep (Kelly) and go along like nothing happened, but there needs to be a change and now is the time.”
l MINOR DEAL: The Senators filled out their rookie camp roster by acquiring winger Jason Bailey from Anaheim for LW Shawn Weller. Bailey, 22, an Ottawa native and a former member of the 67’s, played 35 games with the ECHL’s Bakersfield Condors last season and was a third round pick of the Ducks in 2005.
