Chris Neil is getting ready to return.

Senators coach Cory Clouston told reporters this morning that the Senators rugged winger could be back as early as Thursday against the Boston Bruins.

While the Senators winger was on the ice for a full practice this morning, he won't be ready to suit up Wednesday at Scotiabank Place when the Senators close out an eight-game homestand against the Tampa Bay Lightning.

"It wouldn't be fair to put him in a game with one full practice," said Clouston. "We will see how he is today. He skated harder than yesterday. He responded well and today he was pushed quite a bit harder.

"It wasn't just a morning skate. It was a practice where there's a lot more stops and starts.

"It's a wait-and-see process ... He might play as early as the Thursday game but if not we're hoping by Saturday (in Pittsburgh)."

The Senators could be without defenceman Filip Kuba again on Wednesday. He is still out with the flu. Winger Dany Heatley and centre Mike Fisher were both given the day off for rest.
