Senators

Former Senators C Antoine Vermette, who was traded to Columbus for G Pascal Leclaire at the deadline, couldn't suit up for the Jackets in Nashville last night because he didn't get his immigration paperwork until late yesterday. He was on his way last night and will wear No. 50 ... The Senators honoured D Jason Smith for playing his 1,000th NHL game on Feb. 17 in Colorado. While Senators president Roy Mlakar and GM Bryan Murray presented Smith with a painting by local artist Tony Harris, former Oilers teammates Steve Staios and Shawn Horcoff brought a gift from Edmonton. Smith is a former Oilers captain and spent parts of eight seasons with the club from 1999-2007. An Oilers official refused to tell reporters what the gift was.
