Martin Gerber won't be going anywhere.

The Senators goaltender cleared re-entry waivers today, which means he'll likely spend the rest of the season in Binghamton.

That means the Senators will be on the hook for the rest of his contract -- $850,000 -- for the final months of the season. There was a hope he would get picked up by Carolina.

As a result expect to see defenceman Brian Lee sent to the minors because the club has to clear a roster spot to make room for Gerber.

Elsewhere today, goaltender Alex Auld wasn't on the ice at practice because of a stomach flu. He is expected to back up rookie Brian Elliott tomorrow when the Senators host the Toronto Maple Leafs at Scotiabank Place.

Defenceman Christoph Schubert stepped on a puck at the morning skate Thursday and hurt his groin. He wasn't on the ice either.
