NASHVILLE -- G Alex Auld got the call last night as he finally made a start on this five-game, seven-day road trip, which ends tonight against the Avs. "This was basically his game in the rotation anyway," coach Cory Clouston said before the game. "We wanted (Auld) to play one of these last two games. It's the perfect time to put him in." Auld made 17 saves in Saturday's 5-3 comeback win over Minnesota ... With the Penguins going with 38-year-old Dan Bylsma as their interim coach, Clouston demurred from saying if there's a trend to give an AHL bench boss a chance when an NHL team decides to make a change: "It's never a bad thing to give guys (from the AHL) opportunities. The tough part is somebody had to lose their job." ... Senators D Jason Smith will suit up for his 1,000th NHL game tonight vs. the Avalanche ... Senators RW Jarkko Ruutu confirmed he was fined by the NHL for an incident Saturday with Minny's Cal Clutterbuck. "I don't know how much. They just take it off my salary. I don't have to write a cheque for that," said Ruutu ... Nashville coach Barry Trotz was using a Peter Forsberg stick and wearing Kimmo Timmonen's gloves during the skate yesterday.
