New Senators coach Cory Clouston presided over power play school this morning.

While the players weren't scheduled to go on the ice for practice until 11 a.m., Clouston held a special workout for the club's top two power play units after the Senators went 0-for-5 in their 1-0 loss to the Los Angeles Kings Tuesday.

Nick Foligno skated with Jason Spezza and Daniel Alfredsson while Filip Kuba and Brendan Bell were on the points for the first unit.

The second group had Dany Heatley, Antoine Vermette and Chris Neil/Mike Fisher. Brian Lee and Christoph Schubert were on the points.

The club also had some new lines at practice today, with:

  • Dany Heatley-Jason Spezza-Daniel Alfredsson
  • Chris Kelly-Antoine Vermette-Chris Neil
  • Dean McAmmond-Mike Fisher-Nick Foligno
  • Jarrko Ruutu-Jesse Winchester-Christoph Schubert

    The defence pairings;

  • Chris Phillips-Anton Volchenkov
  • Filip Kuba-Brian Lee
  • Brendan Bell-Jason Smith

    In other developments, rookie forward Peter Regin was sent back down to the Binghamton Senators.

    And, an official announcement will be made later today but former Senators assistant coach Curtis Hunt has agreed to take over the coaching job in Binghamton. He will be behind the bench tonight in Bingo's first game since Clouston was promoted to the NHL club.
