Jason Spezza made an early exit today from Senators practice, but he expects to be fine by game-time tomorrow night.

The Senators centre was troubled by a sore back that was bothering before practice today. He decided not to take any chances, considering the team has just one game before the NHL all-star break, Tuesday against the Washington Capitals at Scotiabank Place.

Spezza insisted he will be fine.

"It felt a little tight today coming to the rink. I got out there and I didn't feel good so there was no point in straining it in practice. I think I will be good tomorrow," said Spezza.

But, others might not be so fortunate.

Winger Shean Donovan hurt himself slamming into the boards during the Superskills Competition Sunday at Scotiabank Place and won't play. Defenceman Anton Volchenkov also won't be ready to return from a shoulder injury.

Fellow blue liner Jason Smith was also off the ice today, but it is hoped he will be able to play on Tuesday.

Goaltender Brian Elliott will make the start.
