WASHINGTON - Brendan Bell will be a healthy scratch tonight for the Senators as Christoph Schubert returns to the lineup against the Washington Capitals.

Senators coach Craig Hartsburg said Bell has been "okay," but that he'd like to see him do more offensively.

"It might be a good night for him to watch," Hartsburg said as the Senators were having a morning skate at the Verizon Center.

Schubert, who has been a healthy scratch for six of the last nine games, will be expected to add a physical presence to what Hartsburg said was a bigger Washington team.

The Senators will return goaltender Alex Auld to the net tonight. He sat for the first time in a month in Wednesday's 2-0 loss in Chicago. Martin Gerber played a solid outing, allowing just one goal before the 'Hawks sealed the game with an empty-netter.

Game time tonight is 7 p.m. and the game is on Sportsnet.
