Christoph Schubert is going to have to sit and wait.

Senators coach Craig Hartsburg is making changes tonight against the Montreal Canadiens at Scotiabank Place, with forwards Mike Fisher (knee) and Chris Neil (knee) injured, but Schubert is not one of them. The defenceman and sometimes winger is going to sit for the second straight game.

Instead, the Senators have decided to give Binghamton Senators callup Brendan Bell a second straight game, which means Schubert is going to have to play the role of spectator again. Callups Ilya Zubov and Cody Bass will also be in the lineup.

"He just has to stay positive," said Senators GM Bryan Murray this morning. "In this league, players, and even good players, are in and out of the lineup sometimes. I think Schubie fits. He's a good, versatile player. To play defence in this league, particularly for our team right now, is more difficult.

"He'll get games he'll just have to realize he might have to play fourth line left wing sometimes and he might have to play defence."

Murray said Hartsburg is determined to make Schubert a blueliner.

"(Hartsburg) wants him to be a defenceman and we want Brendan Bell to get a few games here. We need an offensive guy to play on the power play, but more than that be able to pass the puck and make creative plays. Before I go shopping and give something too much up, I want to find out if somebody within the organization can do the job," said Murray.

Alex Auld will make the start for Senators. Game time tonight is 7:30 p.m., at Scotiabank Place.
