Senators centre Mike Fisher is expected to miss two weeks with strained right knee ligaments, it was announced after practice this morning.

The news is worse on Chris Neil.

The rugged right winger will have arthroscopic surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee. It's not yet known how long Neil will be out of the lineup.

"It's disappointing, but it is what it is," said Neil, who suffered the injury Saturday just before fighting New York Islanders tough guy Tim Jackman. "You always hope for the best case scenario, that's the bottom line. I usually heal fairly quick. Hopefully, it's the same case."

It's expected the Senators will activate Christoph Schubert and use him as a winger to fill the void created by the Neil injury.

As of early this afternoon, they were contemplating how to replace Fisher. The Senators are expected to recall either first year pro Zack Smith or 21-year-old Cody Bass, both centres, from their AHL affiliate in Binghamton.
