Craig Hartsburg is making changes.
Upset with the club's effort in a 4-2 loss to the Boston Bruins Saturday at Scotiabank Place, the Senators coach announced this morning that he'll make defenceman Brian Lee and winger Shean Donovan healthy scratches tonight against the Florida Panthers.
Speaking at today's press conference after the morning skate, Hartsburg said Lee will be replaced by veteran Luke Richardson while Donovan is going to be replaced by Christoph Schubert, who was a healthy scratch for two straight games on the weekend.
"It's more of a numbers thing. I want to get Schubie back in. On the back end, I think Brian is a young player and I believe at times it's good for them to watch. Luke is a veteran we need to get back in the lineup. It's time he played. He's a pro and itíll be good for him to get in," said Hartsburg.
"It's been up and down for Brian. He's a young defenceman with a lot to learn. We certainly like Brian and we think he's on the right track. It's also a night where it's good for him to sit back and watch."
Richardson said he's looking forward to playing.
"Whenever I'm in there I'll be ready to go and I'll be ready to do my thing," said Richardson.
Schubert said he's tried to be positive while sitting.
"It's not the first time I've sat out. I did it a couple of years ago. It sucks, but you've got to be a good teammate. You've got to put a smile on your face and keep your teammates up," said Schubert.
