Daniel Alfredsson looks like he's ready to play.

Now, it's up to him.

As the morning skate wrapped up today, Alfredsson sat on the Senators bench having a long chat with trainer Gerry Townend and he'll make a decision after the warmup on whether he'll suit up against the Phoenix Coyotes at Scotiabank Place.

If he doesn't play tonight, then tomorrow against the Boston Bruins is also a strong possibility. Alfredsson is recovering from knee surgery he had last Friday.

"He's close," said Ottawa coach Craig Hartsburg this morning. "It's about him making sure he's comfortable and we'll decide after warmup."

Alfredsson said he's not sure and wanted to speak with the club's medical staff before making a decision.

"I've got to see if back-to-back games are the best course of action but I feel pretty good," said Alfredsson.

"I didn't know what to expect but I thought I'd start playing Thursday or Friday this week and it has gone really well. It's a lot of fun for me and I'm going to try to get back in the game as quick as possible."
