The Senators have sent seven players to their farm team training camp as they prepare for tonight's NHL exhibition game against the Philadelphia Flyers.
The group includes goaltender Jeff Glass, defenceman Mattias Karlsson and five forwards: Dany Bois (RW), Josh Hennessy (LW), Alexander Nikulin (C), Ryan Shannon (RW) and Ilya Zubov (LW).
All seven players were assigned to attend the training camp of the Binghamton Senators, the club's American Hockey League affiliate.
The Senators camp roster is now comprised of 30 players: three goaltenders, nine defencemen and 18 forwards.
Meanwhile, in other developments today, goaltender Martin Gerber wants to see if The Force is with him tonight at Scotiabank Place. The Senators goaltender confirmed he'll wear his new "Darth Gerber" mask, but said he still hasn't decided whether he'll use in the regular season.
"I really like it. I really think it looks good," said Gerber this morning.
The stark black and grey motif blends images of Darth Vader from Star Wars fame and the centurion from the Senators' team logo.
So do hockey fans being polled online at Ottawasun.com. About 87% of those voting in our poll (see the Sports or Ottawasun.com homepages) say they think Gerber should keep the mask.
That won't be the only change for the Senators. Captain Daniel Alfredsson also confirmed he will be in the lineup for his pre-season debut.
"It's going to be nice to get back to playing some games and getting ready for the regular season," said Alfredsson, who has been bothered by a groin injury.
Centre Mike Fisher is still day-to-day with a groin injury.
