The Senators were able to keep one of their free agents in the fold, signing winger Shean Donovan to a two-year, $1.25-million (all terms US) deal.
Donovan, who will make $600,000 next season and $650,000 in 2009-10, made it clear he didn't want to move. Donovan took a big cut from the $925,000 he made last season.
"The one thing I really found out in our conversations I've had with him was that he really wanted to stay in Ottawa," said GM Bryan Murray. "He played here before (with the 67's), he's from here and he wants to settle here for the most part. He was in talking to me (yesterday) at 9 a.m. I like the guy and I like his energy."
