The Senators may be looking for another heavyweight after dealing tough guy Brian McGrattan to the Phoenix Coyotes today, in exchange for a 2009 fifth-round draft choice.
McGrattan, a 6-foot-4, 26-year-old right winger, was more known for his fists than his scoring touch — recording two goals and eight assists, while racking up 287 penalty minutes in his three years in a Senators uniform.
McGrattan was a fourth-round draft choice of the Los Angeles Kings in 1999.
He was signed as a free agent by the Senators in June of 2002.
Last season, he seemed to fall out of favour with team management. McGrattan saw very limited playing time in the latter part of the season and did not suit up at all during the team's fouster by the Pittsburgh Penguins in round one of the playoffs.
