NOTEBOOK

The Senators got some good news before the puck was dropped yesterday. D Anton Volchenkov, who took a puck to the chest Thursday in Philadelphia and missed practice Friday, was in the lineup. Coach Bryan Murray scratched RW Brian McGrattan and LW Nick Foligno ... Penguins D Ryan Whitney was unable to suit up because of a groin injury and RW Marian Hossa missed his first game with a knee injury. Pittsburgh called up F Connor James and D Alex Goligoski from its AHL affiliate in Wilkes-Barre to play against the Senators ... The Penguins don't have a timetable on C Sidney Crosby's return from a high ankle sprain, but he has resumed skating in Pittsburgh.
