OTTAWA -- Wade Redden won't let the Senators show him the way to San Jose.
The Ottawa Senators defenceman said last night he won't waive his no-trade clause before the Feb. 26 trade deadline.
NHL sources say that refusal killed a deal with San Jose for defenceman Matt Carle and a draft pick.
Redden, who can become an unrestricted free agent in July, confirmed he met with Sens GM Bryan Murray yesterday. A trade was discussed.
Redden also blocked a deal with the Oilers last summer.
"I really have the same thing to say that I said the last time: I signed a two-year deal with Ottawa because I want to win a Stanley Cup with this team," said Redden. "I want to stay here and I want to do the best I can to help this team win."
Murray chose his words carefully in an interview with TSN.
"I told (Redden) there was outside interest and asked him if he wanted to discuss it. He did not."
