John Paddock is an all-star.
The Senators coach will be the bench boss of the Eastern Conference all-stars at the Jan. 27 showcase game in Atlanta, thanks to his club's 25-10-4 first-place record to date.
Mike Babcock, who has guided the Detroit Red Wings to a 29-8-3 mark, will coach the Western Conference all-stars.
"It's certainly a very exciting thing, to have an opportunity, on a short-term basis in sort of a fun game, to be around some of the most talented players in the game and the world," Paddock said yesterday. "It's a lot more of what we have here. We have three or four players here that are premier players, and now I'm going to be around a lot more of those guys.
"It's exciting, I'm thankful for the opportunity, I'm thankful for what the team has done this year to allow that and (GM) Bryan (Murray) and the coaches. Everybody's been a part of it. Somebody gets a little more notoriety for it, but this has been a group effort to get here, and hopefully we're playing in June. That's the more important thing."
Starting lineups for both the all-star teams will announced Tuesday. Complete rosters will be announced soon after.
