NOTEBOOK

BOSTON -- Daniel Alfredsson would have no interest playing in the proposed European-based pro league that would be set up by former NHLPA boss Bob Goodenow and ex-Russian star Igor Larionov. But Alfredsson isn't against the start of the new league either. "If it's done right, I think it'd be a great thing to happen," said Alfredsson, who admits he hasn't heard much in the way of details. "I don't see it as a threat to the NHL, but a complement to it." ... Ottawa broadcaster Dave "The Voice" Schreiber says one of the most impressive talents the late Don Chevrier had was his versatility. Chevrier, the original Senators TV play-by-play man passed away Monday at the age of 69, could call any sport and do it well. "Don was the consummate professional who provided credibility to our broadcasts in the early years of the franchise," said Jim Steel, the Senators VP broadcasting. Added COO Cyril Leeder: "Don was a true icon in Canadian sports media and we were proud to have Don contribute to the Senators broadcasts."
