NEW YORK -- Randy Robitaille may be coming home.

The Senators are looking to sign the 30-year-old Ottawa native to a one-year contract, the Sun has learned. The New York Islanders have also shown a mild interest in Robitaille's services.

The veteran centre, however, would have to clear waivers before he gets a chance to suit up with the either club.

With the Senators playing short since centre Dean McAmmond was sidelined with a concussion and shoulder injury during the pre-season, the club is looking to add some depth down the middle.

Robitaille had signed on to play this season with Yaroslavl Lokomotiv, where he's posted three goals and nine points in 14 games.

He has since returned home to Ottawa while he awaits his release from the Russian Super League club.

A source said the Senators' deal for Robitaille, who would be joining his ninth NHL team, was still being worked out late yesterday.
