Sens Notes

BRUCE GARRIOCH -- Ottawa Sun

, Last Updated: 9:59 AM ET

Ottawa D Anton Volchenkov, who left the game Tuesday vs. the Leafs at the Air Canada Centre with a bruised left shoulder, didn't skate yesterday, but is expected to play tonight.

If not, Christoph Schubert will remain on the blue line. If Volchenkov plays that means there may be no changes against the Leafs, which suggests LW Denis Hamel will be a healthy scratch for the third straight game. LW Peter Schaefer -- out for a week with a hip flexor -- is expected to resume skating today, but won't play ... The Senators have won nine of their last 11 against the Leafs -- outscoring them 50-28 in those games, but the Senators dropped a 6-0 decision to the Leafs in the home opener Oct. 5 ... The Senators are first in the NHL in penalty killing with a 92.3% success rate. The club has killed off its last 24 odd-man situations ... Toronto coach Paul Maurice wouldn't reveal who his starting goalie will be, but expect to see Andrew Raycroft back in the net. He was pulled after allowing five goals on 21 shots on Tuesday.
