LEAP OF FAITH: Nick Foligno will get a chance to wear a Senators sweater tonight. The club's top pick in this summer's draft (28th overall) will wear No. 71 when the Senators open their pre-season schedule against the Penguins in Halifax -- the number his dad, Mike, wore with the Maple Leafs in the early 1990s. "They just gave it to me. I didn't have a choice," said the 18-year-old, who will turn 19 on Halloween. "I think it's a joke. I won't be doing any leaping, none of that crap," he said with a laugh. Mike Foligno used to celebrate his goals (he had 355 in the NHL) with an enthusiastic, arm-waving jump. Nick has been speaking to his dad, for whom he plays with the Sudbury Wolves, just about every day. "He's been a huge influence on me. He knows what it takes to be in the league and what it takes to stay in it," said Foligno. "He's not afraid to knock me down, either."

STAYING HOME: The players who will not make the trip from Group 1 for tonight's game are Fs Chanse Fitzpatrick, Arttu Luttinen and Ds J.C. Sawyer and Neil Petruic. The spare forward for tonight will be Ryan Vesce.
