LOOKING GOOD: Senators coach Bryan Murray was pleased with the performance of the players on the first day of camp. "I really think what you expect is for the guys to work hard," said Murray. "My whole thing today was to get them up and down the ice often, make the odd pass and get them to handle the puck. I just wanted them skating. We're going to have a little more each day."

DIFFERENT LOOK: Without big D Zdeno Chara, the Senators started moving their pairings around by placing newcomer Joe Corvo with veteran Wade Redden, while Chris Phillips skated with Andrej Meszaros. "I wouldn't mind playing with Redden at all, if that's the way it works out," said Corvo. "I didn't get to see a lot of the Senators last year being out west, but I know what kind of defenceman he is and I know he's one of the best in the league. I'm not sure how we would complement each other, but I'm sure it could work."

SCRIMMAGE TODAY: The Senators will hold a practice and scrimmage today at Scotiabank Place. Tomorrow's session at 10 a.m. is open to the public.
