THE GOALS

FIRST PERIOD

1. SABRES: Drury jumps on a rebound after a good save by Emery and puts a shot between Emery's pads. Sabres 1, Sens 0.

2. SENS: On the power play, Eaves takes a nice feed from Alfredsson and flicks home a shot from the edge of the crease. Sens 1, Sabres 1.

3. SABRES: Connolly and Afinogenov work a nice give-and-go with Connolly putting a backhander home. Sabres 2, Sens 1.

SECOND PERIOD

4. SABRES: Using Novak as a screen, Pyatt fires the puck through his legs and over Emery's left shoulder. Sabres 3, Sens 1.

5. SABRES: McKee finishes off a nice passing play as he redirects Vanek's pass in the open side. Sabres 4, Sens 1.

6. SENS: Alfredsson is left with the open side after a great pass by Spezza. Sabres 4, Sens 2.

7. SABRES: Kalinin finishes off as the Sabres score another goal off the rush. Sabres 5, Sens 2.

THIRD PERIOD

8. SABRES: On the power play, the puck squirts loose to Connolly at the edge of the crease and he buries it. Sabres 6, Sens 2.

NOTES

After missing the last couple of games with a stiff neck, Ottawa D Anton Volchenkov was back in the lineup last night ... RW Brian McGrattan was a healthy scratch for the second game in a row last night ... The Sabres didn't dress one of McGrattan's top dance partners, Andrew Peters. Their other scratches were C Adam Mair, D Teppo Numminen (knee) and C Jochen Hecht (knee) ... The crowd last night was 19,575, the Senators' 32nd sellout of the season.
