NOTES

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- The Senators didn't make any changes to the lineup last night, but tough guy Brian McGrattan did take the warmup. That's because C Jason Spezza was almost a late scratch because of a sore hip. After taking part in the pre-game skate, Spezza consulted with the club's athletic therapist Gerry Townend and decided to play ... Senators GM John Muckler opted not to make the trip to the New Jersey ... It didn't look like Continental Airlines Arena was going to be ready for hockey when the club's bus arrived here at 5:50 p.m. The NBA's New Jersey Nets played the Dallas Mavericks in the afternoon, which meant there wasn't any ice for either team to use for a pre-game skate ... Fans in Ottawa got some bonus coverage of the game on television last night. While the game wasn't scheduled to be aired, a power outage during the Penguins-Maple Leafs game in Pittsburgh forced RDS to switch broadcasts, allowing people in Ottawa to see the entire third period of the Senators-Devils game.
