THE GOALS:

FIRST PERIOD

1. CATS: Working down the left wing boards, Bouwmeester fires a sharp-angled shot which Stumpel tips by Emery. Panthers 1, Sens 0.

SECOND PERIOD

2. SENS: Fisher does a good job digging the puck out behind the net and feeds Schaefer in front. Sens 1, Panthers 1.

3. CATS: Emery makes the first stop on Olesz' shot, but Horton is all alone going to the net to bang in the rebound. Panthers 2, Sens 1.

4. CATS: Off a faceoff, Hill's shot is deflected past Emery by Stumpel, who headed to the net. Panthers 3, Sens 1.

THIRD PERIOD

5. CATS: Gelinas takes a great pass across the slot from Jokinen and buries it in the open side. Panthers 4, Sens 1.

6. CATS: Horton wins the puck on the boards, then walks into the slot and beats Emery with a shot to the glove side. Panthers 5, Sens 1.

7. SENS: Vermette takes Schubert's pass from the behind the net and snaps a shot by Luongo's glove. Panthers 5, Sens 2.

8. CATS: With the Panthers shorthanded, Olesz grabs the puck in the Florida zone and zooms past Chara. He skates around Emery's pokecheck and puts it in the open net. Panthers 6, Sens 2.

Senators W Brian McGrattan, getting over a sore foot, was a scratch for the second straight game last night ... The Senators will travel to Atlanta this morning and are scheduled to be on the ice for practice when the trade deadline rolls around at 3 p.m ... Paul Payer, the father of Panthers F Serge Payer, was on hand last night to watch the game. Paul coached with Senators coach Bryan Murray with the Rockland Nats when they won the Centennial Cup in 1975 ... Ottawa's Peter Schaefer scored his 17th goal of the season last night, a new single-season high for the winger.
