THE SKINNY: Started his 18th straight game when the Panthers faced Atlanta on Monday night ... Has been the busiest goaltender in the NHL this season, having faced 1,911 shots ... The New York Islanders' first pick (fourth overall) in the 1997 entry draft ... Senators coach Bryan Murray was the GM in Florida when he made the deal to bring Luongo and Olli Jokinen to the Panthers from the Islanders in exchange for Oleg Kvasha and Mark Parrish.

NOTEWORTHY

After visiting Winding Oaks, the 1,000-acre horse farm of Senators owner Eugene Melnyk in Ocala, Fla., the Senators flew to Fort Lauderdale yesterday afternoon. Melnyk treated his Senators well, too, presenting each with a gift bag that included a personalized belt and video iPod. How many NHL owners are treating their players that well? ... Florida C Olli Jokinen had a pair of goals in the shootout loss to the Thrashers Monday night, bringing his season total to 29 ... Senators D/F Christoph Schubert wasn't too happy with Tampa F Evgeny Artyukhin, who slugged Ottawa's Antoine Vermette over the head Monday night with Vermette's helmet and was suspended two games yesterday. "What was that guy thinking," asked Schubert, who tried to get at Artyukhin. "That has nothing to do with sport. It was just stupid, I think. What's wrong with that guy?" Vermette needed three or four stitches to close a cut on his head.
