NOTES:

The new-look Senators included Jason Spezza between Dany Heatley and Peter Schaefer; Mike Fisher on the left wing alongside Bryan Smolinski and Daniel Alfredsson; Chris Kelly between Vaclav Varada and Chris Neil; and Antoine Vermette at centre on a line with Patrick Eaves and Brian McGrattan. "We have to find a way to generate offence in different situations," Bryan Murray said before the game. "This will give (the Devils) a decision on who to send their checking line out against." ... Senators D Brian Pothier missed last night's game after battling a case of food poisoning that kept him up most of Tuesday night. Taking his spot on the blue line was Christoph Schubert.
