EDMONTON -- The Senators ended up promoting togetherness in a strange way yesterday.

After arriving at the Fairmont MacDonald following the morning skate at Rexall Place, a group of Ottawa players and a couple of coaches were stuck in a broken-down elevator between the fourth and fifth floors for 30 minutes.

Accompanied by Team 1200 play-by-play man Dean Brown and assistants Greg Carvel and John Paddock, Senators wingers Chris Neil and Peter Schaefer, and defenceman Anton Volchenkov had a 30-minute wait until they were released.

Fortunately, Brown has had experience with this kind of thing. He once missed part of a period at the Bell Centre during the 2004 season because he was stuck in a packed elevator.

"We just sort of killed time until they got us out. We talked about a lot of things," said Brown.
