FIRST PERIOD

1. SENS: On the power play, Heatley picks up a pass that was tipped by Spezza and beats DiPietro from a difficult angle on the glove side. Sens 1, Isles 0

2. ISLES: With Hasek caught out of position, Yashin takes a pass from Martinek and throws it into wide-open net from the slot. Sens 1, Isles 1

SECOND PERIOD

3. SENS: On the power play, Varada's attempted pass across the slot to Smolinski bounces off Zhitnik and by DiPietro on the glove side. Sens 2, Isles 1

4. SENS: With pressure in front, Eaves is there to pick up a rebound of a Vermette shot to beat DiPietro on the stick side. Sens 3, Isles 1

5. ISLES: On the power play, Zhitnik fires a shot from the point that Hasek doesn't touch, beating him on the stick side. Sens 3, Isles 2

6. SENS: On the power play, Varada throws a pass in the slot to Schaefer and he beats DiPietro with a shot that is deflected home on the stick side. Sens 4, Isles 2

THIRD PERIOD

7. SENS: Alfredsson's touch pass to Spezza is one-timed past DiPietro high on the stick side. Sens 5, Isles 2

8. SENS: Hamel on a rebound beats DiPietro stick side. Sens 6, Isles 2

UNIONDALE, N.Y. -- Senators president Roy Mlakar, GM John Muckler, C Mike Fisher and D Wade Redden will board a charter provided by owner Eugene Melnyk this morning to attend the funeral for Chris Neil's mother, Bonnie, in Flesherton. They will return in time for Fisher to suit up vs. the Bruins tonight. It is not known when Neil will return to the lineup ... Binghamton callup Patrick Eaves will remain with the team until tomorrow because the health of RW Martin Havlat hasn't been determined ... The Senators returned to Ottawa immediately after yesterday's game.
